The conversation focused on how the next generation in India is engaging with sustainability in a more hands-on, execution-first way. The discussion also highlighted how young professionals are starting to influence organisations to think about long-term impact. Around The World: Trends Shaping Climate & Business
Circular Packaging Is No Longer Just a Sustainability Goal
The EU's Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) is set to reshape packaging requirements across global value chains. The regulation aims to make all packaging on the EU market recyclable by 2030, increase recycled content, reduce unnecessary packaging, and expand reuse systems. For manufacturers, brands, and exporters, packaging performance is increasingly becoming a compliance, sourcing, and market-access consideration rather than just a design decision.

UK Raises the Bar on Climate Targets
The UK has committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 87% from 1990 levels by 2040, reinforcing its push towards net zero while also addressing long-term energy security concerns. While the target is aimed at the national level, its impact will inevitably flow down to businesses through stricter reporting expectations, decarbonization efforts, supply chain transparency requirements, and increased focus on measurable sustainability outcomes.

Sustainability Reporting Standards Face Another Round of Review
The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) has called for stronger alignment between the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) and global reporting frameworks, warning that unnecessary complexity could increase compliance burdens for businesses. The discussion reflects a broader trend in sustainability reporting: companies are looking for greater consistency, comparability, and efficiency as disclosure requirements continue to evolve across markets.
