California Climate-Risk Disclosure Law Temporarily Paused
A federal appeals court has temporarily paused California’s SB 261, delaying climate-risk disclosures for large companies. SB 253, the broader emissions-reporting law, continues toward its 2026 rollout, requiring Scope 1 and 2 reporting, with Scope 3 beginning in 2027.

EU Proposes Major Overhaul of Sustainable Finance Rules
The European Commission proposes changes to SFDR to reduce reporting complexity and costs. A three-tier ESG product categorisation will improve clarity for retail investors and curb greenwashing. Disclosures now align with CSRD thresholds, focusing on large participants and making ESG data more meaningful and comparable.

Singapore and Malawi Partner on Article 6 Carbon Credits
Singapore and Malawi signed an MoU to develop Article 6-aligned carbon credits. Singaporean companies can offset up to 5% of emissions, while Malawi gains support for high-quality mitigation projects delivering social, environmental, and economic co-benefits.

GRI Launches Tool to Align Climate Reporting with UN Net Zero Guidance
The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) introduced the Integrity Matters Checklist, helping companies align climate commitments with UN net zero guidance. The tool maps UN recommendations to GRI Standards, including Climate Change (GRI 102) and Energy (GRI 103), enabling transparent, credible reporting of science-based net zero pathways.
